Important: Choosing the correct user type is critical to ensure appropriate access and permissions within eCOA. User types differ significantly in what information they can access, how they log in, and their roles within studies.
eCOA supports two distinct user types: Internal users and site users.
Internal Users
- Account Purpose: Internal users are sponsor or CRO staff who need to access eCOA Vault for administrative, monitoring, or study management purposes.
- Possible Access:
- eCOA Vault
- Studio
- Study Home
- Permissions: An internal user’s permissions are defined by the security profile, user roles, and application roles that are assigned to the user. The user can be assigned to multiple studies with varying levels of access based on their organizational role.
- Login: Direct login to eCOA Vault.
Site Users
- Account Purpose: Site users are clinical site staff who interact with participants at study sites to collect data.
- Access: Site users have access to Veeva eCOA.
- Permissions: A site user’s access is defined by their study role at the study site. The user can be assigned to multiple study sites with varying roles.
- Login: Users access Veeva eCOA through VeevaID.
