# Generating the Study Design Specification

You can generate and export the Study Design Specification .PDF file containing the following information about your study build:

* List of Languages (Translations are not included)
* Events
* Participant Groups
* Surveys
* Schedules
* Notifications
* Rules
* A snapshot of the study settings at the time the document is created

This specification can help people review and analyze the study build by providing the information in a more condensed, single source view.

Complete the following steps to generate and export the specifications:

1. In the Study Build tab, open **Manage Version**.
2. To generate a new overview, from the Actions menu (), select **Generate New Specification**. 

**Note**: Large files may take up to one hour to complete. You can leave this page and return later to download the latest specification.

3. To download the latest generated specification (if available), from the Actions menu (), select **Download Latest Specification**.

**Note**: When a collection version has been superseded, a final version of the Study Design Specification is automatically generated. You cannot generate a new Specification on a superseded collection but can download the final version by selecting **Download Latest Specification**.
