# Managing Survey Data Change Permissions

## Configuring Survey Data Changes for Sites

Sites are allowed to make changes to all survey data by default. You can restrict their access to make data changes by survey type or for specific surveys. The setting you pick affects the surveys in all collection versions for the study.

You can also set a time limit for how long sites are able to change data after the survey is submitted. If you turn off data change permissions for any survey, they can still submit a Data Change Request that can be reviewed and approved in Study Home.

1. In Studio, access the **Study Settings** tab for the study and select **Data Changes**.
2. Select the **Edit** icon (<i class="fal fa-pen"></i>) in the ePRO, eClinRO, or Composite row of the Survey Data Changes table. Note that all surveys that have ever been included in an approved collection will be in this list, even if they are not part of the current approved collection.
2. Turn on the **Allow Data Changes** toggle to enable changes for that survey type.
3. Enter a number in the **Data Change Submission Window** field, or leave the field empty to allow changes for the duration of the study.

    <div class="alert-text">
      <p><strong>Note</strong>: The Data Change Submission Window setting applies to all surveys of this type.</p>
    </div>
  </div>

1. If you want to prevent changes for specific surveys, turn off the toggle next to the survey in the list.
2. Select **Save Changes**.

## Configuring Site Transcription Settings

By default, sites have the ability to transcribe surveys that a MyVeeva User collected answers for but missed the submission deadline for in MyVeeva. To change this setting or limit which surveys can be transcribed, complete the following steps:

1. In Studio, access the **Study Settings** tab for the study and select **Data Changes**.
2. Select the **Edit** icon (<i class="fal fa-pen"></i>) in the ePRO, eClinRO, or Composite row of the Transcriptions table.
2. Turn on the **Allow Transcription** toggle to enable changes for that survey type.
3. If you want to prevent transcriptions for specific surveys, turn off the toggle next to the survey in the list.
4. Select **Save Changes**.

## Turning Off or On Survey Removal for Sites

By default, sites have the ability to remove surveys that were submitted in error. To turn this setting off or back on again, complete the following steps:

1. In Studio, access the **Study Settings** tab for the study and select **Data Changes**.
2. Select the **Edit** icon (<i class="fal fa-pen"></i>) in the Remove Surveys section.
3. In the ePRO section, turn the **Allow Site Users to Remove Surveys** on or off.
4. In the eClinRO section, turn the **Allow Site Users to Remove Surveys** on or off.
5. Select **Save Changes**.

## Completing Data Changes

If you notice or are informed of an error with survey data entered by a study participant or site staff, contact the site. The site can update <a class="external-link " href="https://sites.veevavault.help/gr/epro/managing-participants/answering-surveys/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">survey answers<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i></a>, <a class="external-link " href="https://sites.veevavault.help/gr/epro/managing-participants/viewing-and-updating-participant-details/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">participant ID associations<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i></a> , and <a class="external-link " href="https://sites.veevavault.help/gr/epro/capturing-data/viewing-activating-and-updating-events/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">event datetimes<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i></a> in eCOA.

If data change permissions are turned off for the survey that needs to be changed, the site user can submit a data change request that will be sent to the sponsor or CRO for review in Study Home. See <a href="/en/lr/14838/">Reviewing Data Change Requests</a> for more information.
